San Quirico d’Orcia

San Quirico d'Orcia, an ancient village that probably has its origins from the Etruscan era, is located on the Via Francigena and surrounded by massive XV century walls; located on the Val D'Orcia, it borders Castiglione d'Orcia, Montalcino, Pienza, San Giovanni d'Asso.

Walking through the village you will discover the beautiful Chiesa della Collegiata (Collegiate Church) with its three Romanesque-Gothic portals, and the Horti Leonini, an incredible example of an Italian Renaissance Garden.

The Church of Santa Maria Assunta, built in 1017, was one of the most significant spiritual places for
pilgrims who used to cross the Via Francigena.
